New Features in Version 10.0 (December 2009)

The “look and feel” of JobView was updated to be consistent with the new styles used in both Microsoft Windows 7® and Microsoft Windows Vista®. JobView is truly a state of the art program, using the latest programming tools and languages. It is important that JobView continue to have a “current” outward appearance in addition to the inward power and flexibility to prevent it from looking “dated.”

DataView was enhanced so that:

The Job Summary Report now includes columns for Change Orders, Billing Frequency, and the Billing Day of Month.

The FormMaker Subcontract Form now includes the Customer Name and Address.

Payroll was enhanced so that:

In Timesheet Entry, the Distribution information in the Salary Tab was expanded and the Description column now includes the Date and Number of Hours.

Salary information on salaried employees may now be retrieved and distributed on ALL Timesheet Entry tabs, including Weekly and Biweekly.

When the screen for Direct Deposit is opened for an employee, the Account selected for Direct Deposit of the Net Amount is highlighted. This suggestion came from the Chicago Users Conference.

When entering a New Employee, the Tax State, the Workers Comp State, and Unemployment State, now default to the State entered in the Employee’s Address. This suggestion came from the Chicago Users Conference.

When entering One Time Deductions, Salary, and Other Pay timesheets, the Auto Re-insert function was added. This suggestion came from the Chicago Users Conference.

The Check Void Confirmation screen now displays all of the line items from the Timesheet Distribution.

Job Costing was enhanced so that:

The Bonding Report now has the option of including the Report Limits at the bottom of the printed report. This suggestion came from the Chicago Users Conference.

The Customer and Customer 2 fields in Job Setup were expanded. This suggestion came from the Chicago Users Conference.

During Budget entry in Job Setup, an Item ID may be associated with each budget line item.

Purchase Orders may be generated for line items during Job Setup, from the Budget Entry tab.

All Subcontracts on the same Job under the same Subcontractor, may be combined under one Subcontract.

Accounts Payable was enhanced so that:

When viewing a vendor under the Invoice History Tab, the Paid Only Tab indicates if a payment (check or EFT transaction) has cleared the bank.

The Co-payee has been added to the payment detail lines in the Aging Detail Report.

When Voiding Invoices, invoices may be looked up by Invoice Number or Dollar Amount. This suggestion came from the Chicago User Conference.

The Invoice Proof Listing now indicates whether a listed invoice is “On Hold.” This suggestion came from the Chicago User Conference.

Accounts Receivable was enhanced so that:

The Address field was added to the screen where the Customer Information is displayed on the Invoice Entry Screen. This suggestion came from the Chicago User Conference.

The 13006PF billing format now includes the Unit Name.

A Customer Receipt may be printed directly from within the Receipts Entry screen.

The Date Range is now printed on the billing from an Auto Job Billing.

Multiple Accounts Receivable G/L (Control) Accounts may be set up. This allows a company to have different A/R Accounts to track them by different categories, by department, by state, etc. The new Accounts are set up in G/L > Enter Accounts.

The Item Price File was enhanced so that:

Each Item in the Item Price file may be flagged as Taxable or Non-taxable, so when the item is Picked against an A/R Invoice Detail Entry, the Taxable box is checked or unchecked based on the flag. This suggestion came from the Chicago Users Conference.

The Contact Manager was enhanced so that:

Envelopes may be printed for “contact groups.”

Utilities were enhanced so that:

In the View Postings and Backups option, multiple Postings may be tagged to generate a single PDF file. This suggestion came from the Chicago User Conference.

The Capitalization utility now includes the Contacts database also.

When Purging Jobs, one job, a range of jobs, or a list of jobs may be selected.

General Ledger was enhanced so that:

When a Customer is assigned to a GL loan, the Interest Income Account now defaults to the default Income Account in that Customer’s Record.

While doing Bank Reconciliation, a Range of Check Numbers may now be marked as “Cleared.” This suggestion came from the Chicago User Conference.

While doing Bank Reconciliation, the button for “Enter Transactions” now allows the user to temporarily jump out of Bank Rec to enter GL Transaction, AP Invoices, AR Invoices or Receipts. Upon returning to Bank Rec, the new transactions, if appropriate, are updated and displayed in the Bank Rec transactions.

While the P&L Statement Printing is calculating “Over/Under” figures, the window displays a progress bar.

When entering a GL Transaction into the “Group of Transactions” screen, a new Description field displays at the top of the screen.

General Enhancements include:

A new “Path Label” was added at the bottom of all reports, indicating where the report is found within JobView. For instance, a Certified Payroll Report would have a path of: Payroll > Reports > Certification Report. This suggestion came from the Chicago User Conference.

Whenever a Fiscal Period “limit” is set for a report, the screen displays the Label for that Fiscal Period, not its number. For instance, selecting Fiscal Period 214 for Dec09 will now display “Dec09.” This suggestion came from the Chicago User Conference.

All existing reports in all modules may be “copied” to create a new report. This allows an existing report to be saved, while a new, modified version of it may be copied and saved. This suggestion came from the Chicago User Conference.

When entering data into a Batch, the screen now displays which batch is being used. For example, the Trade Invoice Entry screen now says, “Adding an Invoice in Batch (2) Standard Invoices.”

The process of upgrading data files was changed so that if the process fails, is cancelled or interrupted, the data files that were successfully upgraded are skipped and the process continues on the files that were not upgraded.

Pressing the “Globe Icon” on the toolbar at the top of the screen now checks the files on the user’s computer against those at the A-Systems website, highlighting new files in red. This option is for those who prefer do do things manually instead of using the convenient timesaving function to Automatically Download Internet Updates.
